Finnish Ajo Motorsport team and its Derbi-riding duo of Spanish Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider Marc Marquez and German Avant Mitsubishi Ajo rider Sandro Cortese will continue their Championship chase in Le Mans as the MotoGP-series groups for the French Grand Prix the coming weekend.
Previous race in Jerez left Marquez without points after a fall due to quite extraordinary technical problem. Marquez, suffering a small injury to his shoulder in the fall, has been working hard with his recuperation and is almost in full fitness. Both riders have their aims set for the top positions as the season’s third race commences in France on Sunday. Nicolas Terol leads the Championship after two races with Marquez in 8th place and Cortese in 9th place.
MARC MARQUEZ, RED BULL AJO MOTORSPORT:
“The fall in Jerez was of course a disappointment for us as we had a good set-up and also I think our tyre choice for the race was really spot on. The recuperation process has gone very well and I think the shoulder is in quite good condition already, although I expect the race could still be just a bit more difficult than usual.”
SANDRO CORTESE, AVANT MITSUBISHI AJO:
“We found a really good set-up in Jerez and were really strong in the race. Le Mans is of course a different circuit with different set-up, but we do have a good base to work on, so we start building towards the race right from Friday’s first practice.”
TEAM MANAGER AKI AJO:
” We found a good set-up for both Marc and Sandro in Jerez, so this gives us a good base to continue the work. Le Mans is of course a different venue, and demands a different set-up, so again its really important for us to start working hard right away. Marc is already in quite good condition, so the shoulder shouldn’t be a major problem even if it isn’t yet in completely full fitness.”
