Spanish Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider Marc Marquez took his 7th pole position of the season with an incredible lap time in today’s qualifying session for the Indianapolis Grand Prix in USA. Marquez was in control of the qualifying session today, taking a hold of the pole position for tomorrow’s 10th race of the season for the 125cc field already in the early laps of the session. German Avant Mitsubishi Ajo rider Sandro Cortese was also again in superb form today, clocking a 4th fastest time in today’s qualifying and slotting on the front row.
MARC MARQUEZ, RED BULL AJO MOTORSPORT:
“Of course it is great to be on pole again. I think tomorrow in the race we should be able to do lap times reasonably close to the ones we did today. Because my shoulder and back get a little tired while riding, I don’t really expect an easy race tomorrow, even if our speed seems to be quite OK at the moment.”
SANDRO CORTESE, AVANT MITSUBISHI AJO:
“Front row was our goal, and I think we had a bit better time in us today, but we had some grip issues, like many of the others as well. We did already find a cure for these with the team though, so for the race we head in a confident mood.”
TEAM MANAGER AKI AJO:
”We have both riders on the front row, so of course we can be happy with the results today. There was a lot of grip trouble today though. I think it was more of an issue for Sandro than it was for Marc today, but anyway, we already looked at the data and found good solutions with Sandro. Marc’s shoulder and back get a bit tired, so even if we are not really expecting any troubles, a long race tomorrow will not be easy.”
