Red Bull Ajo Motorsport’s Spaniard Marc Marquez took the World Championship title of the 125cc class after an intelligent race today in the Valencia sunshine. After starting from pole position, his 12th of the season, Marquez set about to control his title deciding race riding among the front group for the whole of the race and finishing in 4th place with a beautifully executed tactic in the race. 4th place was well enough for the Spaniard to secure his first ever World Championship title. Team mate Avant Mitsubishi Ajo –rider Sandro Cortese was also again in strong form today in the season’s final race, taking 5th place while the winner was Bradley Smith. With his 5th place Cortese took 7th place in the overall Championship standings.

MARC MARQUEZ, RED BULL AJO MOTORSPORT:
“I am of course really, really happy. We were well prepared for the race and we had a good plan. I think we had the pace to fight even for the victory today, but of course the Championship was the main thing for us today.”

SANDRO CORTESE, AVANT MITSUBISHI AJO:
“I wanted to take the first laps just little more calmly and get a good rhythm before I started to push. You know, I had a few no finishes in the past races so it was important to get a good result here. Podium was of course the aim, but I think we can be reasonably happy with the fifth now.”

TEAM MANAGER AKI AJO:
”Marc did a really professional and mature race today. We had the pace to fight for the victory as well I think, but he was following the plan. For us today was not really about the race victory but about the Championship. Of course it’s an incredible feeling and I think it will sink in later when things settle down a little.”
